WELCOME

The Alberta Association of Students' Councils and Advisors (AASCA) is a volunteer, non-profit provincial organization with an interest in facilitating the development of effective student leaders for the future. Established in 1988, we are a dynamic group of Alberta's finest senior high & junior high school students' council advisors.

AASCA Aims and Objectives

GENERAL

  • To provide leadership training for students and student advisors.
  • To present practical information and ideas on planning, organizing, managing and supervising student activities.
  • To develop a spirit of sharing and cooperation as it pertains to the operation of student councils and co-curricular activities in secondary schools.
  • To facilitate a forum for the exchange of ideas among students and student advisors.

SPECIFIC

  • To be of mutual assistance by sharing information regarding successful practices for Leadership.
  • To monitor the overall pattern of Student Leadership activities in this province.
  • To establish a proper balance between curricular and co-curricular programs.
  • To promote workshops and an annual provincial conference for student representatives and advisors.

CONFERENCE MISSION STATEMENT

    To host a well organized Student Leadership Conference that will motivate, energize and unite student leaders and advisors from across Alberta.

  • To provide leadership experiences for students and student advisors.
  • To present practical information and ideas on planning, organizing, managing and supervising student activities.
  • To develop a spirit of sharing, and cooperation as it pertains to the operation of student councils and co-curricular activities in secondary schools.
  • To facilitate a forum for the exchange of ideas among students and student advisors.
  • To motivate students to be involved in leadership.

MEMBERSHIP

    All schools offering programs for grades 7 to 12 are eligible for full membership. Businesses and Associations are eligible for Associate Membership.
