SPONSOR & DONATIONS:

In today's current social program structure it is becoming more and more difficult for any persons with disabilities to obtain necessary funding supplements, which would permit them to participate in and benefit from our program. We believe in being a part of a caring community - a community that strives to exist as a cohesive group, reaching out to provide support to each other. Each one of us has the power to help and recreate a community built on a family unity and mutual assistance. We need your help, our children and adults with disabilities need your help! Your support can provide sponsorship/scholarships for riders who need financial support. Adopt-A-Horse pays for monthly expenses for the horses. Financial donations can pay for staff salaries, promotional events and more. Tax receipts can be issued. Thank you for considering CASE for your donation.

HISTORY:

Central Alberta Special Equestrians (CASE) is a charitable non-profit organization which was formed in 1983, originally under the name of Waskasoo Handicapped Riding Association. At first the program was located in Springvale, east of Red Deer, but in 2004 it moved fifteen minutes west of Red Deer to Shady Nook, off the Burnt Lake Trail on Range Road 283. In the 1990s CASE served about 72 riders and 180 program hours per year, but we have grown over the years and now serve about 136 riders with 300 program hours yearly. New programs added on in the last few years include targeted group sessions and Equine Facilitated Therapy. The group sessions are designed to meet the needs of the group. CASE is a member of the Alberta Equestrian Federation.

CASE provides therapeutic riding for anyone with special needs - whether they are physical, psychological, cognitive, social, emotional or educational. The ages of our riders have ranged from 2 1/2 to 55 years old.

CASE is heavily dependent on volunteers. Our riding program requires three volunteers for each rider. They help the rider guide the horse and look after the horse before and after riding class. As well, volunteers are needed for fund-raising activities, promotion, special events, committees and the Board of Directors as well as other duties. We need to increase our number of volunteers for CASE to continue to grow. Other stakeholders include riders and the parents/family members of riders, funding agents and community partners. We are blessed to have fabulous staff members who are dedicated to our programs. We simply could not do all we have done if it was not for their commitment and the volunteer hours they too have so generously given to CASE.

 MISSION STATEMENT:

As a charitable organization Central Alberta Special Equestrians offers quality therapeutic equine-facilitated activities. We target the specific needs of the individual and provide opportunities for community involvement and support.
