The friendly staff at Stang's Health Centre

Welcome to Stang's Health Centre

Lena and I (Pius Steve) were born, raised and educated in south central Saskatchewan. I was born on the farm during the dirty thirties. We mainly raised dust, grasshoppers and Russian Thistles. That was a great experience and preparation for the future. It taught me many wonderful lessons, as my dad used to say, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”  We just helped our neighbors in anyway we could and they responded in like manner.  Those so-called weeds always interested me and I sampled many of them. We now know them as herbs.

Another thing that fascinated me was our human body.  That’s why I later studied Anatomy, Physiology, etc. with great passion.

Lena & I became school teachers and were very much involved coaching volleyball teams and softball teams, and I also coached little league baseball and hockey, as well as play men’s baseball.  Because the school curriculum didn’t provide much practical information for health education, I resigned from my teaching position and thus started an exciting adventure.

In 1969 I enrolled at a private Canadian College in Toronto to study Anatomy, Physiology, Principles of Diagnosis, Hygiene, Dietetics, First Aid, Ethics, Jurisprudence, Massage, Hydrotherapy, Remedial Gymnastics and Dermalaxia Therapy.

Another course I took was the Ingham method of Reflexology from Eunice Ingham, the author of, “Stories the Feet Can tell” and “Stories the Feet Have Told.”  After pestering Therese G. Pfrimmer enough, she agreed to allow me to study and become the first student to take an internship at the Therese G. Pfrimmer Clinic in the Bayfield, Ontario area.  Working with Therese I learned the Pfrimmer techniques of transverse.  Deep muscle therapy and its underlying principles for corrective and preventive treatments of Crippling condition.

We started our Clinic in Camrose, AB, where I was also taking a Herbal medicine course from the Faculty of Herbal medicine by Dr. Hewlett Parsons from England.

Then upon passing both written and practical exams, I became a licensed masseur and licensed Physiotherapist in Alberta.

On Dec. 21, 1971 we opened a Health Food store and Clinic in Olds, AB.  Dr. Bernard Jensen’s many books and tapes provided me with a lot of knowledge about his world wide research on live foods, herbs and Iridology.

Also, Dr. John Raymond Christopher from Provo, Utah came into my life. I took several courses of intensive study in Reflexology, Herbology and Iridology.

Then Stanley Burrough from Hawaii came to Calgary and taught a course in Vita Flew and Color Light Healing, which I was able to be a part of.

In 1977 I was privileged to take two internship courses at Humanities Research Hidden Valley Health Ranch, near Escondide, California taught by Bernard Jensen.  He taught us a lot about the live food we were designed for as well as in depth principles of Iridology.

Many wonderful, dedicated people came into my life which I’m thankful for.  Mr. Lance Baxter became my mentor.  Lance had compassion for people and lived his life with great passion.  A blind man that was well qualified as a Herbalist, Homeopath, Physiotherapist and Masseur.  Also Martin Wispinski, Grace Thain and her daughter Joyce, Trudy Jensen and many others.

Because of the many years of study and research, I developed many Herbal Formulas. We carry hundreds of products from many top quality companies, natural foods, Vitamin and Mineral and Herbal supplements, Specialty Products, Sports nutrition products, exercise equipment etc.  My wife and I, own and operate Stang’s Health Centre Ltd. And on of our sons, Perry is in charge of ordering, pricing, and taking care of most of our retail customers.

I personally take care of the Clinic part of our business.  Consultations, Iridology, Reflexology, Vita-Flex, Massage, Deep Muscle Therapy and advice on weight loss, cleansing, healing and maintaining optimal health.

Stang’s Health Centre Ltd. has been a member of the Canadian Health Food Association for over thirty years.
As a Natural Health Practitioner, I’m a member of the Alberta Registered Massage Therapists Society, also member of Therese G. Pfrimmer International Association of Deep Muscle Therapist. I am also a founding member of Iridologists International.

We started our 32nd year of business in Olds on Dec. 21/2002.  Thank- you for allowing us to serve you!
